Progressive slots have long been popular for their growing prize pools and engaging gameplay. Now, you can find free progressive slots at sweepstakes casinos, and this gives you a chance to play for the same large jackpots without spending upfront.
These sweepstakes casinos not only let you spin for free using virtual currencies, but they also allow you to redeem your Sweeps Coin jackpot winnings for real-world prizes when a few simple terms are met. Read on, as we’ll tell you how they work, the best games with impressive jackpots, and the top sites to find them.
Before we get into the details, let’s quickly look at a few key points about free progressive slots.
Here are the advantages and a few drawbacks of these slots:
Progressive slots are a type of slot game linked to a jackpot amount that increases over time. Each spin played on those select games, either by you or other players, contributes a small amount to the prize pool. When the jackpot is won, it resets to a starting value and begins growing again. This setup is what makes them different from fixed jackpot slots, where the prize amount stays the same.
Free online progressive slots follow the same format, but without any requirement to spend money before you can play them. Instead of using real money, they let you enjoy the same growing jackpots using virtual currencies while playing for fun or for a chance to redeem prizes. They’re available at sweepstakes casinos, so you can join in from eligible U.S. states absolutely free.
Sweepstakes casinos are free-to-play sites that don’t accept real money for playing the games. So, you may be curious how free progressive slots work, especially since you get a chance at prizes without being mandated to put a cent on the line.
At these sites, you’ll find various casino-style games, from free slots with bonus and free spins to progressive slots and more, all using virtual currencies called Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins instead of real funds. The names may vary with different sites but they each have their distinct functions. Additionally, jackpots are either in Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins.
Don’t worry too much about how to get them, you’ll often be given generous amounts for simple activities like signing up, logging in daily, taking part in promotions, or engaging with the casino’s social media pages. You can also choose to buy Gold Coins in bundles, but these aren't compulsory.
Some sweepstakes casinos connect multiple games to the same jackpot pool, so every spin on any linked title pushes the prize higher. Others keep their jackpots tied to a single game, meaning only gameplay on that title will contribute to the prize pool. In both cases, the jackpot resets and starts building up again after it has been hit. Still, they don't all work the same way. Here are a few types you'll find:
These have more than one jackpot level such as Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega. Each one has its own starting value in Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins and win frequency. Smaller tiers get won more often, while the top tier can take longer to drop and their prizes are larger. We've seen Mega prize pools reaching 220,000 Sweeps Coins.
In these games, jackpots are awarded during a special bonus round triggered by collecting specific symbols, often money symbols, gems or alphabets. The bonus holds triggering symbols in place and gives you a set number of respins to collect more. Filling certain positions on the bonus grid awards one of the jackpots.
These jackpots are shared across multiple games from the same provider, so each spin on any linked title increases the same prize pool. This allows jackpots to grow faster. You'll find that most free progressive slots share a Grand prize which can be won by playing any of the featured games.
Here, all eligible free progressive slot machine games contribute to a single jackpot pool. High 5 Casino’s Jackpots section works this way, with various games contributing to the same Minor, Major, and Grand prizes. The current prize values are visible in all linked games and updates in real time.
If you’ve never played free progressive slot machines, the choice can be overwhelming and they all hold up well on mobile devices. There are dozens of titles to pick from, so you’ll want to focus on more than the prize amount, although that's still important. Here are some factors to consider before you spin.

Gates of Olympus Jackpot Play takes the original 6x5 scatter-wins mechanics and adds the possibility of progressive prizes. Gameplay here is centered around tumbling reels and Zeus’s random multiplier drops, which can combine during free spins rounds for stacked effects.
The jackpot feature can be triggered in both the base game and bonus round without having to interrupt the pace. It's one of the best free video slots with a mythological theme, and for those who enjoy the scatters feature games with a bit more variety.
This is a fun Safari-themed slot complete with rhythmic drum beats and a connect-and-collect jackpot mechanic. It comes on 5x4 reels with animal symbols and golden jackpot icons which must link across the reels to release rewards.
The rewards can include fixed or progressive prizes, depending on the symbols connected. It’s a fast-paced slot that’s loved for its immersive theme and high-energy, rewarding gameplay.
Dragon’s Blessings is an East Asian themed slot by High 5 Games with 5x4 reels. It plays great with dragons, temples, and ornate symbols that land frequently enough to keep it engaging.
The jackpot feature offers both fixed and progressive prizes, and can appear alongside regular wins without changing the game’s normal pace. Free spins also come with more chances to activate the jackpot feature, while its 96.0% RTP and medium volatility make it a good fit for longer gaming sessions.
Gaming Corps’ McLuck Jackpot Hold & Win uses a simple 5x3 grid to keep spins quick while building towards its main feature; the hold-and-win bonus. Collecting enough bonus symbols sets off a respin round where only special icons appear, and each can reward fixed or progressive prizes. Once triggered, these respins can extend as long as new symbols land, which makes it quite heated. It's minimalist so you don’t have to track multiple mechanics all at once. This is right up your alley if you enjoy focused jackpot play without excessive complexity.
Panda’s Fortune retains classic 5x3 reels with winlines, and classic Asian-inspired artwork. Here the panda is the wild that can boost the base game wins while gold symbols can release progressive jackpots. The bonus round ups the ante and adds more win opportunities through enhanced symbol sets.
This is one of the free progressive slots to go for if you prefer a relaxed gaming session.

Progressive slots are games where the jackpot value grows each time someone plays, with a small portion of each spin going into the prize pool. The prize keeps building until someone wins it, at which point it resets and starts again.
Yes, you can. But you'll be playing them using virtual currencies such as Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, not real cash. You’ll usually get some of these virtual currencies as part of a welcome bonus, daily login rewards, or promos. This setup makes sweepstakes casinos and games like free progressive slots with no download required legal in most US states.
Jackpot wins on progressive slots are typically less frequent than standard slot wins because the prize pool takes longer to build. However, these games still reward smaller in-game prizes, bonus features, and jackpot tiers along the way.
