Two Vermont betting apps are now live - DraftKings and FanDuel. We have tested out both of them and you can find out what we think of them below.
As you would expect from two recognizable brands, both of these apps are excellent products. And when you sign up to either of them, you can get $200 in betting bonuses with a $5 qualifying wager. As well as all of this, we will also look at the ins and outs of sports betting legislation in The Green Mountain State.
As we explained above, mobile sports wagering is live in Vermont and has been since January 2024. The law permits up to six companies to be licensed in The Green Mountain State, and right now two are live - FanDuel and DraftKings.
The FanDuel app is bright, well-branded and looks extremely professional. As you would expect from a brand of this magnitude, there are regular updates, so in the rare case that you do come across any bugs, you can rest assured that they will be fixed soon.
The FanDuel app is particularly impressive when it comes to in-play betting. You can click on the βLiveβ button at the top of your screen to find all in-play markets, and βWatch Liveβ to see what events are available for streaming.
Overall, the selection of professional and collegiate sports markets is fantastic and the odds offer decent value. Click on the βBonuses & Promotionsβ button to see what offers are available to you at any given time.
The DraftKings app is packed with features that some of you more experienced bettors out there will love. For example, the game tracker shows detailed team, game and player stats in real time to help you track your bets. Additionally, there are live streams available for many leagues and matches.
As well as team and player stats, you can also use the βbetting trendsβ feature to view the industry side of things. This shows you how often each team beats the spread and their underdog/favorite records.
You can reveal the bet slip at any time by dragging it up from the bottom of your screen. When using the slip, it is easy to add multiple betting markets to create same game parlays. When comparing the odds and markets for VT players to FanDuel, there really is very little that separates these two products.
The Vermont betting offers that you can claim at FanDuel and DraftKings are almost identical. On both platforms, you can get $200 in bonus bets when you sign up and bet just $5.
Both bonuses come as non-cashable free bets that last for seven days. Your bonus bet stake is not included in your returns and you must play through your bonus once over before you can make a withdrawal.
There are a couple of subtle differences in the T&Cs that separate the two offers. For example, at DraftKings, the minimum deposit required is $5, while at FanDuel you must deposit at least $10.
The DraftKings bonus is paid as 8 x $25 bonus bets, meanwhile, the FanDuel promotion totals $200, but the individual bonus bet amounts are unspecified.
App | Bonus | Bonus type | Claim here |
---|---|---|---|
FanDuel Vermont | Bet $5 Get $200 in Bonus Bets | $200 in bonus bet tokens | FanDuel |
DraftKings Vermont | Bet $5 Get $200 in Bonus Bets | 8 x $25 bonus bets | DraftKings |

If you meet this criteria, just follow this step-by-step guide:

If you have these three things, here are the steps you need to take to sign up with FanDuel or DraftKings in The Green Mountain State:
In Vermont, you can bet on professional and collegiate sports, both of which are offered by FanDuel and DraftKings. In particular, these apps are excellent for major US pro sports leagues.
FanDuel is our top pick for NBA and MLB fans, meanwhile, DraftKings is the official betting partner for the NFL. Additionally, you can look overseas on both apps and wager on international sports as well.
When it comes to college sports, there is very little to separate the two apps in terms of the markets, odds and promotions that they offer. March Madness is always the best time to find promotions and exciting possibilities for pre-game and live wagers.

The main exception worth highlighting here is that you cannot bet on games involving Vermont-based collegiate teams. However, there is an exception to this rule when they are playing in a national competition.
If we look at online betting as a whole, here is what you canβt bet on:
The FanDuel and DraftKings Vermont betting apps are both available for Android users. You can find both apps on Google Play, and there are no specific software requirements.
However, as both these apps, and betting apps in general, are quite heavy we recommend clearing up some memory space and using a relatively modern smartphone or tablet. When you are in the Google Play store, it will tell you which of your devices the app is available for.
Once again, both of these apps are available on iPhones, iPads and all iOS mobile devices. To install either the FanDuel or the DraftKings VT apps, you need iOS version 14.0 or newer and you can find the apps in the App Store.
Governor Phill Scott legalized the bill to allow up to six online sports betting companies in the summer 2023. The six companies are chosen and regulated by the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery.
The first of these two companies launched their online betting apps in January 2024 and remain the only two live apps right now. However, more apps and PayPal betting sites are expected to go live in Vermont in 2024. When they do, weβll be the first to let you know here at PromoGuy US.
In general, the sports betting laws and regulations in Vermont are similar to those in most Northeastern US states. But there are a couple of differences. For starters, only online sports betting is allowed in VT.
There are no retail betting shops and in-person sports wagering is not permitted at all. Secondly, you cannot fund your online betting account with your credit card in Vermont, only debit cards or online banking is allowed.

Spending time using the app to see how easy it is to navigate and use is a vital part of the process. Ideally, the app should be simple enough to use regardless of whether youβre a complete newbie or an experienced bettor.
The best Vermont betting apps have mobile-specific features that enhance the overall experience. Quick bets and notifications are common, but weβre always on the lookout for innovation.
