With a relatively small sign-up bonus and some pretty hazy gameplay T&Cs, we all know WebSweeps isn’t exactly the best sweepstakes casino around.
The good news? Other sites like WebSweeps are out there – and many of the brand’s competitors offer a lot more when it comes to things like bonuses, game options and mobile compatibility. Today, I’ll be introducing you to five of my favorites: Stake.us, High 5 Casino, Mega Bonanza, Zula Casino and McLuck. Here’s what you need to know.
For those of you unawares, WebSweeps is a virtual-currency-powered sweepstakes casino that offers slots, keno and other kinds of online games inspired by the bright lights of Las Vegas.
But of course, WebSweeps is far from the only brand in this biz – there are other sites like Hello Millions and Stake.us to consider, for example.
What’s more, as suggested in my intro above, many of the market’s top alternatives really trump WebSweeps’ latest bonus, which is only worth 100 free spins to new users, as well as the brand’s rather limited game line-up which only contains around 100 different games.
To give you an idea of what I mean, here’s the 4-11 on what Stake.us, High 5 Casino, Mega Bonanza, Zula Casino and McLuck have to offer right now:
Welcome bonus | Number of games | Mobile app? | |
---|---|---|---|
Stake.us | 260,000 GC, 55 SC and 5% rakeback – special code “PROMOBOY” required. | 1,000+. | No. |
High 5 Casino | 250 GC, 5 SC and 600 Diamonds. | 1,500+. | Yes – iOS and Android. |
Mega Bonanza | 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC.
| 800+. | No. |
Zula Casino | 120,000 GC and 2.5 SC. | 1,200+. | No. |
McLuck | 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC – special code “PROMOGUYSOCIAL” required. | 800+. | Yes – iOS and Android. |
There’s a lot to take in there, right? For example:
“Stake.us clearly has the largest bonus, but the best game selection, size-wise, is offered by Zula Casino”.
Anyhow, now you know the basics about each brand, let’s take a closer look at what my five top WebSweeps alternatives have to offer.
If you’ve read my recent Stake.us review – or just glanced at the above table – you’ll know that this long-established sweeps site’s latest bonus packs a real punch.
Players who enter my code “PROMOBOY” on registration will get 260,000 just-for-fun Gold Coins (GC) over here, as well as $55 in prize-redeemable Stake Cash – this brand’s answer to what other sweepstakes casinos call “Sweeps Coins” or “SC”.
Your bonus Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins can be played at more than 1,000 different slots, tables, live dealer and unique “Stake Originals” games – and you’ll qualify for 5% rakeback on qualifying losses, too, making this undoubtedly one of the best sites like WebSweeps for bonuses.
Later down the line, there’s potential to get involved with an epic VIP program, and enjoy 24/7 customer support if ever anything goes wrong, too – both features I’ve never seen advertised by WebSweeps.
Highlights
While WebSweeps’ game selection tends to offer lesser-known games like Dragons Fight and Fish Battle 5, which are sometimes a little slow-loading, my recent High 5 Casino review found that this brand has invested a lot of blood, sweat and tears into ensuring its gaming software is always totally top-notch.
As a subsidiary of software developer High 5 Games, which has been going since 1995, the guys at High 5 Casino know a thing or two about what makes sweepstakes-style games great – so you’ll only find premium games up-for-grabs here, many of which have been hand-made in-house, including Golden Knight and Money Mayhem Loot.
The site also offers a bunch of popular NetEnt and Pragmatic Play titles, as well as such slots favorites as Da Vinci Power Play, Bushido Bounty and Green Machine Deluxe. So, it’s great from a player choice standpoint, too.
Highlights
The first time I fired-up WebSweeps, I was a little confused by all the individually boxed-in game ads, and rather distracting progressive jackpot banners at the top of the main page.
If you guys felt the same, I’m happy to tell you that Mega Bonanza is a real breath of fresh air usability-wise, with its big buttons, clearly highlighted game search engine, accessible menu and one-click functionality. This, for me, makes it one of the best sites like WebSweeps around for anyone looking for a no-nonsense user experience.
In my Mega Bonanza review, I was equally struck by the site’s excellent collection of Pragmatic Play and 3Oaks slots like Aztec Gems and Magic Apple 2 Hold and Win – neither of which I’ve seen available anywhere on WebSweeps lately.
Highlights
If you haven’t read my Zula Casino review, here’s what you need to know about this competitor – which is a rock-solid WebSweeps competitor for anybody into slots and jackpot games.
Much as I found with MegaBonanza and High 5 Casino above, Zula Casino offers an excellent lineup of slots games from Pragmatic Play. However, in addition to this, Zula sources games from other big names like Booming Games and Ruby Play, too.
The best of these are, without doubt, Zula’s jackpot games like Caishen of Prosperity and Blazing Mustang, which frequently qualify for four-figure SC jackpots, potentially worth up to 6,000 SC for weekly leaderboard-toppers.
Highlights
Last but not least, if you enjoy a spot of sweepstakes gaming on the move, from your smartphone or tablet, it’s difficult to find a provider that’s as much fun as McLuck.
In my latest McLuck review, I highlighted how this brand offers downloadable apps that consistently impress users, boasting a 4.3-star average rating on Apple’s App Store and a 4.1-star average on Google Play at the time of writing.
Of course, High 5 Casino offers downloadable apps for iOS and Android as well, but in my experience, McLuck’s are much smoother-running – and they also offer more bonus potential, due to the prevalence of “McJackpots” promotions, and that exclusive McLuck sign-up bonus I mentioned earlier, which is worth 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC with my code “PROMOGUYSOCIAL”.
Highlights
As I’m sure you can see by now, WebSweeps is far from the be all and end all when it comes to sweepstakes casinos.
Other sites, like Carnival Citi and Stake.us, are out there – and many offer much larger game selections than WebSweeps’ rather limited 100-slot offering, with High 5 Casino and Zula Casino both advertising 1,000+ different games apiece, for example.
And then there’s these sites bonuses – Stake.us’ 260,000 GC, 55 SC and 5% rakeback promo blows WebSweeps’ latest 100 free spins offer right out of the water. While site slike Zula and Mega Bonanza’s offers both offer much more in terms of free gameplay credits than WebSweeps’ bonus, too.
As we all know only too well, some of the best games available with WebSweeps include slots like 7 Crabs Party and fruit machines like Hot Fruits Wheel.
But there’s no denying that High 5 Casino, Stake.us, Mega Bonanza and the other sites I reviewed above all have the upper hand over WebSweeps in the software department.
Some of the best games currently offered by my favorite other sites like WebSweeps, include:
Game | Developer | Key features | Which of my favorite sites like WebSweeps offer it? |
---|---|---|---|
Sweet Bonanza | Pragmatic Play | This six-reel slot is effectively a classic fruit machine with a candies theme. Though what makes it really interesting is its 25,000x top win potential. | Stake.us, High 5 Casino, Zula Casino and McLuck. |
Gravity Blackjack | Iconic 21 | This top-tier table game from Iconic 21 offers 10x multipliers and real-life dealers. | Stake.us and McLuck. |
Black Wolf 2 | 3 Oaks | This 5x4 hold-and-win game comes with 25 lines, super-spooky theming and tons of wilds and boost features. | Stake.us, Mega Bonanza and McLuck.
|
Look as hard as you like, but you’ll soon find that unlike McLuck and High 5 Casino, WebSweeps doesn’t have a downloadable app.
Of course, some of the other brands from my reviews above – including Stake.us, Mega Bonanza and Zula Casino also don’t have apps. The difference? Unlike WebSweeps, which tends to run rather weirdly when accessed from a smartphone or tablet, Stake.us, Mega Bonanza and Zula all have completely mobile-friendly sites. That said, it’s worth noting that sometimes:
“Mobile-friendly sites are easier to use than apps - as there’s no straight-up download requirement, meaning you can jump straight into the action”.
Here’s what you need to know about our five best brands on the app-front:
Welcome bonus | App Store rating | Google Play Store rating | Number of games |
|
---|---|---|---|---|
Stake.us | 260,000 GC, 55 SC and 5% rakeback – special code “PROMOBOY” required.
| N/A - mobile-friendly site only. | N/A. | 1,000+ |
High 5 Casino | 250 GC, 5 SC and 600 Diamonds. | 4.6-star average. | 4.1-star average. | 1,500+ |
Mega Bonanza | 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC.
| N/A - mobile-friendly site only. | N/A. | 800+. |
Zula Casino | 120,000 GC and 2.5 SC. | N/A - mobile-friendly site only. | N/A. | 1,200+. |
McLuck | 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC – special code “PROMOGUYSOCIAL” required. | 4.3-star average. | 4.1-star average. | 800+. |
While Rolling Riches sister casino sites might be out there, I did a bit of investigating into WebSweeps’ background and found that this site’s parent company isn’t running any sister sites at the time of writing.
The good news, of course, is that Stake.us, High 5, Mega Bonanza, Zula and McLuck all make for excellent alternatives if you’re looking for WebSweeps-style gaming, but with a bit more game variety and bigger bonuses.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the main reasons you guys might want to consider my fab five over WebSweeps today.
Don’t get me wrong, WebSweeps has its plus points, but ultimately the site’s 100 free spins bonus leaves a lot to be desired, as do some of the brand’s gameplay T&Cs, and somewhat unclear rules regarding which US states players can and can’t register from.
With that in mind, then, Stake.us, High 5, Mega Bonanza, Zula and McLuck are – in my opinion at least – much better choices. Here are a few reasons as to why, as well as a couple of counter points on why WebSweeps perhaps shouldn’t be ruled-out entirely…
When I set about rating sites like WebSweeps – or any other sweepstakes casino sites for that matter – I always look out for the following must-have features:
First and foremost, I check there are at least a few hundred games up-for-grabs – preferably criss-crossing different genres like slots, roulette and blackjack.
Next up, I look out for special sign-up offers like Zula Casino’s latest 120,000 GC and 2.5 SC promotion.
I’m sure you all know that sweepstakes casinos are playable without any up-front purchase requirement. That said, as most players will probably want to buy Gold Coins (GC) at some point, I check what kinds of payment options are offered – and whether they can be trusted.
Not all brands offer dedicated apps like McLuck or High 5 do, but if they don’t, I make sure mobile-friendly sites are offered as an alternative. In many ways, the latter are more fun and less hassle anyway, as no downloads will ever be required to play.
Finally, I look into what kinds of bonuses – or rewards schemes – sweepstakes casinos offer to gamers in the longer-term. Stake.us offers an awesome VIP program, for example, while WebSweeps offers no such opportunities at all.
With only about 100 different games on its books and a much smaller-than-average bonus, WebSweeps isn’t personally a site I’d consider playing at – and after seeing my reviews of popular alternatives like Stake.us, High 5, Mega Bonanza, Zula and McLuck above, I’m sure you can understand why.
In my view, a solid sweepstakes casino should offer a big-value welcome bonus like Stake.us, great software and usability like High 5 Casino and Mega Bonanza, and super-fun jackpots and other promos like Zula Casino and McLuck.
Of course, each of these sites comes with pros and cons of its own, as we’ve already seen, but from where I’m standing, all five make for excellent alternatives to WebSweeps at the time of writing.
WebSweeps has a few merits, including some unique, 27-line slot games and an okay-ish bonus. That said, its ill-defined T&Cs certainly raise a few question marks, and there’s no denying you’ll find more games and better quality software on sites like High 5 and Zula Casino.
Right now, new McLuck players can claim 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC using my code “PROMOGUYSOCIAL” – and your freebies can be played at slots games as if they were free spins. Similar sign-up promos are available with MegaBonanza and Stake.us today, too.
Not really. Personally, I couldn’t find any links to live chat or email support on the brand’s site, so you might want to consider Stake.us and other sweeps competitors if having 24/7 assistance one-click away at all times is important to you while gaming.
