If you’re looking for how to play DraftKings Pick6, I’ve put together a comprehensive step-by-step guide for you below. On it, I’ve covered everything from the signup process to the basic rules and how to make your first picks.

To sum it up quickly, this DFS contest involves picking anywhere between 2 and 6 players from at least two teams in the same sport and selecting “More” or “Less” for the projected stat line. Now, with the intro out of the way, let’s dive right in!

DraftKings Pick6 - An overview

Before I launch into my complete step-by-step guide, here is an overview of what exactly DraftKings Pick6 entails. On the face of it, it’s just like other fantasy sports pick ‘em contests, in that you make between two and six more/less picks based on player props.

However, the main difference between the DraftKings version and most others is that this one is a peer-to-peer competition. In layman's terms, this means that you play directly against other players for a share of the prize pool, rather than against the house.

Welcome bonus and other offers

If you like bonuses, you won’t be left hanging. Here is a brief overview of the bonus offers DraftKings Pick6 has in store for you:

Pros and cons

The fact that this is a peer-to-peer pick ‘em contest brings both pros and cons when compared to other fantasy sports games of this type. With that in mind, here is a summary of the main pros and cons of DraftKings Pick6:

DraftKings Fantasy Sports App
  • Easy to learn and understand
  • Up to $100 no sweat welcome offer
  • Multiple entries with each entry fee
  • Guaranteed prize pools for each contest
  • More complex payout system compared to standard multipliers
  • Only available in 21 US states

DraftKings Pick6 how to play - A step-by-step guide

With the basic overview out of the way, I can now get down to business. Below, you can find a complete step-by-step guide that explains how to play DraftKings Pick6 in detail:

Registration

The first thing that you need to do is head to the website or download the DraftKings Pick6 app. What’s most important for me to note here is that there is a dedicated app and website for Pick6 only – meaning you cannot play this contest on the regular DraftKings Fantasy platform. I’ve provided further details about the signup process further down this page, so stick around for that!

Pick your sport

The first step towards actually playing and entering the contest is picking which sport you want to play, as you cannot spread your picks across multiple different sports. Right now, you have the choice of NBA, NHL, and NFL, but more are expected to be added in the future.

Make your picks

Now, you need to choose between two and six players from the same sport/league but at least two different teams. Additionally, you cannot repeat the same player for a different stat. This is known as your “Pick Group” and is a key part of how to play DraftKings Pick6.

Choose “More” or “Less” for the projected stat

Once all of your picks have been made, you need to choose “More” or “Less” for the projected stat line for each player. For example, if you are in an NFL Pick6 contest, the stat for Brock Purdy might be 249.5 passing yards total. If you decide to go with him, you’ll need to decide if you think he will pass more or less than 249.5 in the next game.

Choose your entry amount

With all of your picks and “more or less” selections made, it’s time to choose your entry fee. This is where DraftKings Pick6 differs from most others. Every $1.00 of your entry fee is distributed to a different contest – for instance, a $10 entry fee is 10 x $1 for all contests you’re eligible for. I’ll explain more about how this works a little bit later on.

Follow your picks

When the games go live, you can log into your DraftKings Pick6 account and see how your stats are doing in real-time. Just look for the “My Picks” tab, which is quite obvious on the homepage of the website and app. When it comes to learning how to play DraftKings Pick6, this is definitely the most exciting part.

Receive your prizes (if you’ve won)

If you have made enough correct picks, you will win a share of the prize pool. As I said before, payouts work a bit differently with this pick ‘em contest, forming the main part of what makes them unique. In short, rather than a multiplier, you get a share of the overall prize pool. The good thing about this is that you don’t have to get all of your picks correct to receive a payout.

How to edit your Pick Group

If you have followed my how to play DraftKings Pick6 guide to the letter and and you want to make changes, don’t worry. Until the game kicks off, your picks are not locked in. Here’s how to make edits to your Pick Group:

  • Log into your account;
  • Go to the “My Picks” tab;
  • Click on the Pencil (Edit) icon;
  • Players you can still change are marked with an (X);
  • You can either change the “more or less” selection or swap out the player for another one entirely.

Play for More - Increase your entry fee

As well as being able to edit your picks, you can also increase your entry fee before the games start by using the “Play for More” feature.

Additionally, a trip to the “My Picks” tab lets you select your set and click on the “Play for More” button. You can then add more entry fees for that selected set. Now, once the transaction has been settled, you will receive information about how your extra entry fees have been distributed.

DraftKings Pick6 rules - Everything you need to know

I’ve already told you a bunch of times that DraftKings Pick6 for NFL and NBA aren’t like other contests. Until now, however, I’ve barely scratched the surface regarding why, and the time has now come to do just that. The fact is, I know how to play DraftKings Pick6, so let’s take a closer look at some of the key rules I’m used to following:

Contest distribution and limitations

Your entry fee is automatically spread across all contests that you are eligible for, with $1.00 of your entry fee going to a different contest. The maximum limitation for this distribution is 20 contests total.

Unlike on other pick ‘em contests, you don’t choose from a selection of contests. In this respect, it’s much easier as you just make your picks, choose your entry fee and the system puts you into all contests that you are eligible for.

What if there are fewer contests than my entry fee allows for?

Let’s say you choose a $15 entry fee, but there are only 10 contests that your “Pick Group” is eligible for. First of all, $1.00 would go to each of the 10 contests, with the other $5 being split as $1.00 each across the five contests with the most available participant spaces.

Scoring

The scoring system for DraftKings Pick6 NBA is pretty simple and exactly the same as other fantasy sports variants of this type. If you choose over the stat line and your player puts up more points, yards or whatever it may be, that pick is correct. If they finish with less, you lose.

Payouts

Rather than getting a multiplier payout based on your number of picks, you get a share of the prize pool. While getting all of your selections correct is optional, it’s not necessary for you to receive a payout.

For example, here’s how the prize pool is distributed for a 5-pick contest with a $10,000 pot:

  • 80% ($8,000) to players with 5/5 correct picks
  • 20% ($2,000) to players with 4/5 correct picks

For 6-pick contests, a third option is added for players with 4/6 picks. In cases where there might be less players with one wrong pick than players with them all correct, you could technically end up with more money despite not getting all of your selections right – which is just due to the nature of Pick6.

How to play DraftKings Pick6 - The signup process

And for those unfamiliar with other DraftKings products, here’s what to do:

  • Enter the amount that you wish to deposit (minimum $5);
  • Choose your preferred payment method;
  • Enter your payment account details;
  • Click the box to save the payment method for future use (Optional, but recommended);
  • Confirm the deposit by clicking the button at the bottom;
  • Confirmation and a deposit number will appear on the screen.

How to play DraftKings Pick6 - Conclusion

In conclusion, understanding how to play Pick6 at DraftKings is extremely easy. You just have to pick between two and six players, then decide on “more” or “less” for the proposed stat line for each one.

The payout structure is a little bit less straightforward, but the fact that you are playing peer-to-peer and not against the business makes for a more exciting, if sometimes, more unpredictable game. If you’re into that, you’ll definitely enjoy trying out Pick6 at DraftKings.
