FanDuel vs BetMGM: Which Sportsbook Is Better?

Publish Date:31/03/2022

fanduel vs betmgmWhich is better, FanDuel or BetMGM? It’s a simple question, but the answer is a little more complicated. Keep reading to see whether FanDuel or BetMGM is best for your sports betting needs.

We couldn’t resist seeing who would win in a battle of FanDuel vs BetMGM. After all, these are two titans of the US betting scene and they have a great reputation for their odds, lines, bonuses, and much more. So take a look below to see whether you should sign up to FanDuel or BetMGM.

Does FanDuel or BetMGM cover your state?

Your online safety is at the center of all of these sportsbook comparisons whether it’s FanDuel vs BetMGM or DraftKings vs Barstool. There is simply no way that we’re going to recommend that you should sign up on any online sportsbook unless we know that it is legal in the US. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about any of this at FanDuel and BetMGM. This is because these are two of the most respected betting platforms in the US and they are fully regulated in all of the states that they operate in.

BetMGM might have a casino gaming background, but it has shown that it is serious about rolling out its sports betting platform. This means that you can now legally play at BetMGM in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

It’s no less impressive at FanDuel where you can bet at this online sportsbook in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Tennessee, Iowa, Virginia, Michigan, Arizona, and Connecticut.

All of this regulation doesn’t just mean that it’s legal to play at these online sportsbooks. It also means that the betting platform has been found to be secure and fair. All of which shows that you can trust FanDuel and BetMGM for legal and safe online betting.

Is FanDuel or BetMGM better for welcome bonuses?

We found that FanDuel and BetMGM had pretty much identical welcome bonuses. This gives us a good idea of how competitive things are between these two sportsbooks. As such, you could sign up to either sportsbook and know that your first bet could be refunded by 100% up to $1,000 if it loses.

Because these deals are so similar, we thought that we should take a good look through the terms and conditions to see if there are any important differences. We found that both bonuses worked in the same way in that if your first bet was lost, your stake would be refunded in site credit. What’s best is that both bonuses let you use your bet credit on any odds and any sports.

In fact, the only major difference between these bonuses was the fact that your site credit lasts for just seven days with the BetMGM bonus, while the FanDuel promo code lasts for 14 days. Beyond this, you’ll simply find two bonuses that can take much of the pain out of your first bets on these excellent betting platforms.

The battle between FanDuel vs BetMGM for sports betting

We had a great time betting on sports at both of these sportsbooks. They both put on virtually faultless performances that gave us a fast and fun way to bet on all major US sports like the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL.

The FanDuel sportsbook might not cover too many niche sports, but it seems pretty comfortable in serving up bets for boxing, golf, MMA fighting, motorsport, soccer, tennis, and rugby. Our favorite part here was the way in which FanDuel kept serving up odds boosts for some pretty interesting betting lines.

FanDuel is also a great site for parlay betting with its Parlay Builder tool making it easy to create some truly crazy parlay bets. We should also let you know that FanDuel’s live betting platform is excellent and you can even enjoy live streams of some major sporting events.

BetMGM is another sportsbook that tends to only focus on the major sports, but you’ll find hundreds of betting lines for each big event. Key features at the BetMGM sportsbook included the odds boosts that it serves up for markets like correct score and certain parlays. Speaking of which, BetMGM has a cool One Game Parlay feature along with other decent options like cashing out, live streams, and the excellent Edit My Bet feature.

Rating the FanDuel vs BetMGM sportsbook apps

Both of these sportsbooks have clearly worked hard to make sure that their mobile apps are up to the challenge of 21st-century sports betting. You can download the BetMGM and FanDuel apps to any modern iOS or Android device and enjoy a fast and fun way to bet on the go.

If we were being superficial, we’d say that the BetMGM app looks a little cooler. We loved its sleek black and gold color scheme, while the FanDuel app felt a little anonymous. Beyond such trivialities, we found that both apps were fast, responsive, and easy to navigate around.

Our favorite bits of the BetMGM app were the speedy live betting platform and the cool way that you could add odds/lines boosts. Conversely, we found that the FanDuel app slightly edged ahead in the way in which you could speedily build a same game parlay. Carrying out all other tasks like signing in, making deposits, and contacting customer support proved to be equally intuitive on the BetMGM and FanDuel apps.

Who has better customer support? FanDuel or BetMGM?

Neither FanDuel nor BetMGM could have lasted as long as they have unless they were able to take good care of their customers. We found that both sportsbooks made it equally easy to get in touch with the customer care teams who always proved to be fast to respond and helpful in addressing your problems.

BetMGM hosts a great live chat service that’s available 24/7, and there’s also an email address along with an uploader you can use to send screenshots and so on. Our only criticism here is that we could only reach these contact options by clicking through a few FAQs.

FanDuel makes it a little faster to get through to its customer support team via the live chat icon in the bottom right of the homepage. There’s also an email support option, although, like BetMGM, there is nothing in the way of telephone support.

Both sportsbooks have FAQ sections that attempt to answer the most common customer issues. However, we felt that the BetMGM FAQ could be a little vague while the FanDuel FAQ was a little too focused on its fantasy product for us. Despite this, we found that both sportsbooks clearly care about their customers.

Making payments at FanDuel and BetMGM

Both sportsbooks let you make deposits with a variety of different payment providers that vary according to which US state you are playing from. Deposit options at BetMGM include Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Tappp, Play+, VIP Preferred echeck, or an ACH bank transfer.

It’s a pretty similar deal at FanDuel where you can make payments with Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Venmo, ACH bank transfer, and even in person at a PayNearMe location. We found that all of our deposits went through instantly at BetMGM and FanDuel, and there weren’t any processing fees.

Withdrawals were also fast and simple at both sportsbooks. If anything, we felt that FanDuel might have the edge in terms of fast payouts as one of our withdrawals came through in just under 24 hours. However, we should note that BetMGM insists that its PayPal withdrawals could go through in less than 24 hours. Obviously, the withdrawal times will be longer for other payment methods at both online sportsbooks. But whether you’re making deposits or withdrawals, you can trust BetMGM and FanDuel with your money.

FanDuel vs BetMGM for bonuses, promos, and reward programs

Given the sheer competitiveness of the US betting scene, it’s no surprise that BetMGM and FanDuel would be aiming to encourage a little customer loyalty through some great special offers and reward programs. Each of these sportsbooks takes a different approach with their promos for existing customers but they both look like they are good value for money.

BetMGM has a few special offers like a refer-a-friend bonus, but it’s the BetMGM Rewards program that got us interested. Like many loyalty schemes, this deal gives you points for your online betting. But not only can you trade in these points for site credit, but you can also redeem the points for a bunch of different perks at MGM Resorts all over the world.

FanDuel took a different approach in that it put on lots of cool special offers for existing customers rather than a main reward program. Highlights included a no-sweat same game parlay bonus for soccer betting, enhanced odds and lines bonuses for certain golf tournaments, and separate deals for horse racing betting and fantasy sports. All of which should give you plenty of reason to stick around at FanDuel.

Conclusion - which is better, FanDuel or BetMGM? It’s complicated!

To be honest, we’re not even going to attempt to separate BetMGM and FanDuel as these are clearly two top-class online sportsbooks. As such it might be worth looking at what happened when we compared FanDuel vs Caesars. Not only does BetMGM and FandDuel have pretty much the same welcome bonus, but you’ll find that BetMGM and FanDuel will each give you routinely strong odds and lines for anything in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL.

The only major differences between BetMGM and FanDuel were found in the promotions that they had for existing customers. But all of these looked like being decent value for money and should give you yet more reasons to give these online sportsbooks a try. So sign up to BetMGM and FanDuel and see which sportsbook suits you best.
