Last Updated on 15/05/2024

Unless you are a complete whizz, our Yankee bet calculator is an essential tool for those of you who like placing this type of bet. Why? Because it can display the potential return and profit for your bet instantly.

Yankee bets are a staple for horse racing bettors. You need to select four horses running in different races, add them to your betslip, then choose Yankee from the sportsbook’s multiple bet options. Your stake is then split across 11 equal wagers consisting of six doubles, four trebles, and one fourfold accumulator. To get a return, two selections must win.

How to use the Yankee betting calculator

Although for newcomers a Yankee bet might appear pretty complex, using our Yankee bet calculator is simplicity itself. All that you need to do to use it, is to enter the odds for your four selections, plus your stake amount, either as a total, or per betting line.

Once that’s done, you just need to click “Calculate” to display your potential payout and profit. Then if you want, you can play around with different stakes to see how they would affect your payout.

Winning combinations

By default, our Yankee bet calculator will show your potential payout if all four selections win. However, by using the drop-down menu, you can check what would happen if one or more of your selections is a non-runner, or if a race ends as a dead heat, the latter being a rare occurrence.

Extra functions

In addition to the essential functions, our Yankee calculator includes extra conditions that you can apply to your Yankee bet. The most popular option being to make it an each way bet, but you can also include Rule 4 outcomes, the latter being applied if another horse in the race is withdrawn shortly before the start.

Inputs

Here is some more information about the required inputs:

  • Odds - The odds for each of your four selections in fractional, or decimal format.
  • Stake - You can either enter your total stake, or the amount you want to bet on each part. Bear in mind there are 11 bets in a Yankee, so your total stake will be 11x the bet amount you have entered if you go for the latter option.

The odds and your stake are essential when using our Yankee bet calculator. However, you can also make use of the following options:

  • Each way - You can also make your Yankee an each way bet, but remember that your total bet amount will double to cover the place bets, making 22 bets in total.
  • Show Rule 4 - If you activate this, it will show the adjusted odds if one or more horses (other than your selection) doesn’t run in the race.

Outputs

Although this is a more complex system bet, the outputs you’ll see displayed are consistent with most of our other betting calculators:

  • Total outlay - The total cost of your bet. Note that if you entered a total stake amount that cannot be divided by 11, the total will be rounded down, so a $100 total stake would become $99.99, or 11 x $9.09.
  • Total return - By default, this is the total amount you’ll receive if all of your selections win.
  • Total profit - As above, but minus your original stake.

A step-by-step guide to using our Yankee calculator

  1. Select four horses from four different races
  2. Enter the odds for each horse into the calculator
  3. Choose either your total or per line stake
  4. Select optional extras (each way, apply Rule 4 etc.)
  5. Click “Calculate”
  6. The results are displayed instantly
  7. Play around with the bet amount, or add optional features, to see how your potential return and profit are affected.

Example: The Yankee bet calculator in action

To give you an example of how this calculator works in action, we’re going to go across the pond and select four horses running at the Cheltenham Festival:

  1. Ballyburn - 4/7
  2. Fact to File - 10/11
  3. Minella Indo - 15/8
  4. Sa Majeste - 6/1

Here’s how you would input those in the calculator:

OutcomeOdds
1.Winner4/7
2.Winner10/11
3.Winner15/8
4.Winner6/1

With a $1.00 per bet stake, this is what would be displayed:

Total outlayTotal returnsTotal profit
$11.00 (11 x $1.00 bets)$217.54$206.54

As we explained earlier, a Yankee bet pays out if at least two of your selections win. To give you a quick example of this, here’s how the above would pay out were Minella Indo to lose, but the other three horses win:

1.Winner4/7
2.Winner10/11
3.Lost15/8
4.Winner6/1

Yankee bet calculator FAQ

🧐 How are Yankee bets calculated?

A Yankee bet is a system bet that combines 11 equal bets in one wager. For example, if you stake $1.00 per bet line, your total stake would be $11.00. However, calculating your potential profit is tricker, which is why we recommend using the Yankee bet calculator here at PromoGuy.us.

🔎 Are Yankee bets worth it?

A Yankee bet can be worthwhile if you think at least two of your selections have a good chance of winning. Moreover, it can be a good way to combine four short-odds horses into one wager for a better payout than you’d get by backing them all individually. Found this answer useful? You can get more information and discover the best NHL betting sites here at PromoGuy.us.

👀 What happens with a Yankee bet if there is a non-runner?

If one of your horses doesn’t run, there’s no need to worry. Your Yankee bet still stands, with the odds recalculated to compensate. This will, of course, make your potential returns and profit lower and could be a blow if the non-runner was a horse you were banking on.

❓ Is a Yankee better than a Lucky 15?

There is always a level of subjectivity that comes into play when answering such questions. A Yankee bet is known as a partial cover bet, as it does not cover every wagering possibility. Whereas a Lucky 15 is a full cover bet, and accounts for all 15 possible wagering combinations, including single bets on each of the four selections.
