DraftKings has also taken a different approach to some other sportsbooks which are about impressive graphics and getting in your face with everything they have to offer at once. While there is nothing wrong with this, and the ones that do it are clearly successful, DraftKings has gone for something a little more utilitarian.
If you wanted to be critical, you could use the word ‘drab’, but ‘no nonsense’ and ‘easy to use’ might be more accurate, as the website (we’ll look at the app on a moment) is intuitive and even if it were your first time, you would have little trouble finding what you needed, whether it was looking top right for your account details or simply placing a bet.
To see which markets are available for any event, you select your sport from the right-hand menu. As you would expect, the ‘headline’ sports like the NFL and NBA are listed at the top rather than the list being in purely alphabetical order. Clicking on any one of these will show you the games or matches, and through those, you can find the available markets. Everything we saw tallies up with what you would see in other sportsbooks
It’s much the same story with the odds and lines, where the random sample test we did found that what you’ll see at DraftKings Arizona matches what you’d see elsewhere. However, DraftKings offers odds/lines boost tokens for specific wagers that can improve the return on a successful wager. In addition to this, there is the same game parlay option, which combines all of the wagers for the same event into a parlay to boost the odds and lines if all bets are successful.
All of the markets available normally are also available after the event starts, so there is a considerable range on offer. None of the live betting we saw was accompanied by live streaming, although the event in question would have been on TV anyway, so this was not a huge problem.
Live betting is also where the app comes into its own. If we had been watching the game in a bar, it would have been quick and easy to place a bet, especially if the markets were already in the quick links. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, or directly from DraftKings Arizona if you prefer.
Offering plenty of payment options is usually a sign that an operator has one eye on the needs of the customer, and DraftKings certainly ticks that box. You can fund your account with card payments or the preferred method of bank deposit. You can also use PayPal, VIP Preferred, or Play+ and cash if you pay it in at an approved retailer.
