Eagles Outlast Cowboys in Season Opener
Week 1 kicked off with fireworks in Philly as the defending Super Bowl champs held off the Cowboys, 27-20. The Eagles ran wild in the first half, piling up 123 rushing yards and three touchdowns before Dallas’ defense finally tightened after halftime. Even with Jalen Carter’s ejection, Philly’s offensive line and Saquon Barkley proved too much to handle.
For the Cowboys, the first game of the post-Parsons era showed flashes but not enough finish. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb connected for over 100 yards on the night, but a pair of late drops doomed Dallas’ comeback bid. “I need to catch the damn ball,” Lamb said afterward, taking the blame.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer called it “no moral victory,” but the Cowboys believe the second-half adjustments on defense give them something to build on as the schedule lightens up in the coming weeks.
