The Bears’ offense wasted no time putting on a show. Caleb Williams connected on back-to-back deep strikes in the first quarter, a 35-yard touchdown to Rome Odunze and a 65-yard flea-flicker bomb to rookie Luther Burden III, setting the tone for a 31-14 win over Dallas that wasn’t as close as the score suggests.
Williams finished 19-of-28 for 298 yards, four touchdowns, and a career-best 142.6 passer rating, his first NFL game without being sacked. Head coach Ben Johnson’s creative play-calling kept the Cowboys guessing, mixing gadgets, motion, and a balanced attack that exposed a defense struggling without Micah Parsons and corner DaRon Bland.
For Dallas, it was another night of blown coverages, communication issues, and missed opportunities. The offense turned the ball over three times, and CeeDee Lamb’s early ankle injury left Dak Prescott without his top weapon. Brandon Aubrey’s heroics saved the Cowboys in Week 2, but Tom Brady put it bluntly on the broadcast: this team is one clutch field goal away from being 0-3.
Chicago, meanwhile, looked every bit like a team built to maximize its young quarterback. Big plays, long drives, and a dominant offensive line gave Williams the stage to showcase why he was the No. 1 pick. If this version of the Bears is here to stay, the NFC just got a whole lot more interesting.
