Daniel Jones revival? Colts might have found their guy
When the Colts named Daniel Jones their starting QB a month ago, fans weren’t happy. Many wanted Anthony Richardson to keep the job. Two weeks in, though, Jones looks like he’s finally found his perfect fit. Indy became the first team in NFL history to open a season with 10 straight scoring drives and no punts through two games, thanks in large part to Jones’ steady play.
Through two weeks, Jones has a 111.1 passer rating, five total touchdowns, and a 71.4% completion rate, leading the Colts to a 2-0 start. It’s giving serious “career comeback” vibes, think Geno Smith in 2022, Baker Mayfield in 2023, or Sam Darnold in 2024. All three turned “prove it” contracts into long-term money, and Jones is already on that path after signing a one-year, $14M deal.
Head coach Shane Steichen has praised Jones’ consistency, preparation, and ability to progress through reads — a stark contrast to what we saw in New York. If this continues, Jones could cash in big next offseason, just like Mayfield did when he parlayed a one-year shot into a $100M extension.
