Pirates rookie Paul Skenes continued his dominant stretch on the mound, keeping his scoreless streak alive and solidifying his spot among the league’s top arms. Oakland’s Colby Thomas crushed his first career homer and drove in three, while Jacob Lopez turned in one of the best starts of his young career in a win over the Nationals. In Atlanta, Drake Baldwin delivered a breakout night with two homers and five RBIs as the Braves rallied past Miami.
NFL Preseason Returns with a Rookie Showcase
The
2025 NFL preseason
kicked off Thursday with plenty of promising debuts. Seahawks QB Jalen Milroe showed off his dual-threat upside, while WR Tory Horton made his case for a roster spot with a touchdown grab. Ravens return man LaJohntay Wester broke loose for an 87-yard punt return TD, and Colts rookie TE Tyler Warren turned heads with 40 receiving yards. Eagles WR Darius Cooper exploded for 82 yards and a score, and Bengals DE Shemar Stewart impressed with a disruptive showing in limited snaps.
