Former UFC title contender Darren Till is set to make his professional boxing debut against Tommy Fury.
The 'Gorilla' was recently announced as the next opponent for the celebrity pugilist Tommy Fury. Half-brother of heavyweight boxing great Tyson Fury, the 25-year-old first came to prominence as a reality TV star. Even during those Love Island days, however, Fury was looking to carry on the family legacy—putting together a 10-0 unbeaten boxing career. A career that includes a notable victory over Jake Paul, as well as a win over KSI back in October of last year.
Fresh off the announcement that Darren Till has stepped up to fight Tommy Fury, the two men shared the stage in London. Predictably, for a celebrity boxing event, things went quickly off the rails. While the two men started with standard barbs about skill and power, once Till got onto the topic of Tyson Fury that's where it all went south.
"Have you forgot I sparred your brother?" Till asked the younger Fury, referencing Tyson. "I sparred your brother Tyson, I treated him like a baby. So if I'm in that fight and I'm losing, I'm going, 'Right, I'm kicking him in the face now.' And you ain't gonna do shit."
That's around the point John Fury, father to Tommy and Tyson, decided to interject.
"Oy, listen, Pig's Eyes," the elder fury chimed in, mocking Till. "I was going to be respectful of you. Leave our son's, Tyson's name out of your mouth. Leave his name out of your mouth. You're not good enough to suck his d--k, mate."
A few moments later and the water bottles started flying. You can watch the whole presser below.
Darren Till will enter this fight fresh off his first foray into the boxing ring, back in June. The 31-year-old faced off against MMA fighter and BJJ athlete Mohammad Mutie at Social Knockout 3 in an exhibition match, earning a 2nd round TKO. That fight quickly devolved into chaos as well, however, with both Mutie and Till eager to keep brawling even after the fight had ended. True to form, Till even managed to give up a takedown.
For Fury, this fight against Till will be his first since scoring a somewhat controversial unanimous decision win over celebrity boxer KSI last October. Originally ruled a majority decision win for Fury, KSI campaigned heavily to have the result overturned, believing he had won. A further review of the cards, however resulted in changing the majority decision to a unanimous one.
