Sunny Edwards returns to the ring this weekend. In Birmingham, England, he'll meet Galal Yafai for the vacant WBC interim world flyweight belt.

Edwards heads into the bout after earning a technical decision over Adrian Curiel in June. That fight saw him rebound from his first ever pro loss - a defeat to the undefeated Jesse Rodriguez in December, 2023. Edwards lost the fight to 'Bam' by retirement due to a broken orbital bone. The loss cost him his IBF flyweight belt

Birmingham's Yafai is 8-0 as a pro. As an amateur he won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Edwards (who wants steroids legal in boxing) beat Yafai on the amateur circuit in 2015. Despite this, Team GB Boxing elected to send Yafai to the Olympics in Rio the following year. Edwards remains upset at the decision, per ESPN.

Edwards will have a chance to exact some revenge on Yafai (and Team GB) this weekend. And Yafai will hope to avenge his ammy loss to Edwards and claim his biggest pro win to date.

Other notables on the card include Callum Smith (who lost ot Artur Beterbiev in 2024 and Canelo Alvarez in 2020) taking on Carlos Galvan and undefeated Cameron 'The One' Vuong meeting veteran, and former WBA International title challenger, Gavin Gwynne.
