Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul definitely happened, and although it was still sad, it wasn't as tragic as it could have been.
Jake Paul at 27-years-old just won a unanimous decision over the 58-year-old Mike Tyson, in what was a highly underwhelming affair. Tyson looked every bit his age, and Paul seemed to throttle back to allow Mike to make it to the final bell. They are friends after all.
The volume was low on both sides, and the fans showered the two fighters with plenty of boos. It felt like Paul could have stepped on the gas at any moment, as Tyson was virtually a sitting duck out there. Tyson's legs just weren't there, so mercy seemed to be the name of Jake's game. One judge gave Paul all eight rounds, with the other two giving Tyson one round a piece.
The final scores were 80-72, 79-73 x2 in favor of Paul, who was quite gracious in victory. The typically talkative YouTube sensation turned boxer didn't even call out anyone after the match. He just expressed his gratitude for the spectacle, and did credit Tyson with that bodacious slap at the weigh-ins... which was the most significant strike he landed in this whole thing.
Well, at least it's over now.
