Jon Jones seems to be manufacturing fake outrage towards Stipe Miocic ahead of the two’s fight at UFC 309.
Posted on his Instagram story overnight, Jon Jones took issue over comments Miocic said on a promotion leading into the fight at UFC 309. Jones, who has a history of trying to manufacture beef, posted publicly to his Instagram story telling Miocic that “the disrespect didn’t have to happen.”
“Bones” and Miocic will step into the cage this weekend in a highly anticipated matchup that seems to be heating up between two of the best fighters of their respective division. Could bad blood be an addition to this historic matchup?
Jon Jones seems to be upset with Stipe Miocic for comments made on the UFC 309 Countdown show. Jones didn’t appreciate Miocic's use of a curse word on the popular pre-fight video.
On the Countdown show, Miocic made the comments about Jones and simply said “Let’s go, b--h.” Jones posted on his story telling Miocic publicly that he didn’t need to disrespect and “It is on.”
Jones continued his dressing down of Miocic on X, saying the following:
“Hiring black fighters to mimic me will not help you Stipe. And you shouldn’t have called me a b--h, the disrespect wasn’t necessary. Let’s play. #UFCcountdown”
UFC CEO Dana White has been hyping a fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic long before UFC 309. The two were originally scheduled to fight in November 2023 before Jones tore a pectoral muscle in training.
Since then, Tom Aspinall has captured the interim title. Despite calls from fans, Jones has not been tapped to defend against the interim champ, instead opting for Miocic.
Adding a bit of intrigue, Aspinall will be weighing in as backup for UFC 309. With Jones signing off of on social media with the duck emoji, he knows what’s at stake if Miocic pulls out of this fight. This is also a jab at fans who have been saying Jones has been ducking Aspinall ahead of the Miocic bout.
Jon Jones has even gone as far to say that he’d rather face two-weight champion Alex Pereira instead of the interim champion, Tom Aspinall.
