Doctor leaves foe stretchered, wins Road to UFC S3 tournament

Three fighters were officially awarded contracts at UFC Macau, which played host to the finals of the Road to UFC Season 3 tournaments.

The biggest winner was Shi Ming, a full-time Chinese doctor and fighter, who ironically sent her opponent to the hospital after a brutal knockout (highlights here). Ming landed a perfectly placed head kick, which left Feng Xiaocan out cold for four minutes in a worrying scene. She had to be stretchered out and rushed to a nearby hospital.

As commentators noted, Shi Ming's parents don't know about her career as a professional fighter and believe she's only a doctor. Perhaps that changes now that Ming is set to make news headlines all over China after this UFC tournament win.

Ming, who commentators dubbed as "Doctor Sleep" after the brutal KO win, previously beat Seo Ye Dam and Dong Huaxiang to advance and eventually win this 8-woman tournament.

The two other Road to UFC Season 3 winners on the card are South Korea's Soo Young You and Dong Hoon Choi, who won the bantamweight and flyweight tournaments, respectively.

The three tournament champions each beat three top Asian prospects in the last few months to officially earn a hard fought UFC contract.

Road to UFC Season 3 results

The three Road to UFC fights were also part of the promotion's Macau event, and you check out full results from the entire event here. The event is headlined by a fun bout between former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and former bantamweight champion Petr Yan.
