UFC 310 happens on December 7, 2024 back in Las Vegas, and it’s a fight card that was previously set to feature two championship fights. Alexandre Pantoja is still set to defend his flyweight belt, but the original main event title fight was canceled, striking a blow to what was shaping up to be a promising card.
The original headliner for UFC 310 was a welterweight title defense between Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov, but the champion had to pull out due to a bone infection.
The card will be held again at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and it will be the UFC’s final PPV event of the year. Below is everything you need to know about the UFC’s next major pay-per-view event.
The Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura title fight has been bumped up to be the new UFC 310 main event.
Since disaster struck UFC 310, Belal Muhammad's original opponent Shavkat Rakhmonov previously asked for an interim title fight, but only got a regular replacement. There were rumors of a potential bout with Kamaru Usman, but Rakhmonov instead got booked against Ian Garry-Machado. The bout would now be the co-main event, while the title fight between Pantoja and Asakura has been bumped up to the headliner.
RIZIN champion Kai Asakura is set to jump into an immediate title fight on his UFC debut against flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja. The fight itself will likely end up fun and exciting, although it'll struggle to sell PPVs with casual fans.
It's a bit unfortunate that the card got hit by an injury, but the fight card itself is still pretty good. Key main card fights include former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling continuing his featherweight run against Movsar Evloev, and Ciryl Gane taking on Alexander Volkov in a striking clash between heavyweight contenders.
Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie was also recently added to the main event.
Nick Diaz is an MMA legend and a long time fan favorite, but his return at UFC 310 against Vicente Luque already sparked some concerns from the get go.
Diaz didn’t look good in his return bout against fellow veteran Robbie Lawler three full years ago. His last win also happened 13 years ago against a long retired B.J. Penn. So when he was initially matched up as a 41 year old, people were already worried.
Things only got worse after some ugly rumors about alleged drug abuse came out, and soon enough Diaz was pulled from the card and the fight was cancelled.
Apart from the original main event, Tatiana Suarez also pulled out due to health issues. There is still no official bout order for UFC 310, as of this writing, but here is the current fight card.
