Most professional jiu-jitsu events these days are held under no gi rules, but the 2024 IBJJF Crown will be an exception. The long running BJJ institution is hosting their answer to all those professional events with their own premier invite-only event in the traditional kimono.
Several BJJ world champions will be competing in the gi, with six 8-man tournaments awarding $20,000 for the winners, and a record total prize pool of $250,000. That may still not be massive numbers compared to other sports, but considering that even world champions typically pay IBJJF to compete, this becomes a welcome change.
Four returning champions will be joining the tournaments to defend their "crown," in Tainan Dalpra, Erich Munis, Gabrieli Pessanha and Luiza Monteiro. Five time BJJ world champ Diego Pato will also be among the other big names on the card.
