Little League has issued a statement raising concerns over betting in the Little League World Series

Little League International, the governing body of the Little League World Series, has issued a strongly worded statement against betting on the Little League World Series.
"While Little League International continues to monitor the complexity and ever-evolving world of sports betting, we feel strongly that there is no place for betting on Little League games or any youth sports competition," Little League posted in an
official statement
on its X site, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
“Little League is a trusted place where children are learning the fundamentals of the games and all the important life lessons that come with having fun, celebrating teamwork, and playing with integrity, and no one should be exploiting the success and failures of children playing the game they love for their own personal gain."
The Little League World Series, for players between the ages of 10 and 12, is currently taking place in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and will continue through August 24. Bringing in baseball teams from around the world, they've been playing the Little League World Series every August since 1947.
Interestingly, ESPN is providing television coverage of the Little League World Series. ESPN operates the sportsbook ESPN Bet in partnership with Penn Entertainment.

Some offshore betting sites offer odds on the Little League World Series
At issue is the fact that some offshore betting sites, such as Betonline and Bovada, are providing betting lines on Little League World Series games. However, these sites are not licensed and regulated within the US market.
The same regulatory constraints ruling over US-licensed sportsbooks such as DraftKings or FanDuel are not applicable to them. State gambling regulators have issued cease-and-desist letters to sites like Betonline, but it has had little effect in preventing people from placing wagers on these sites.
Sites like Betonline are not licensed to operate as a sports betting site by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the state in which the Little League World Series is taking place. Sports betting has been legal in Pennsylvania since 2017.
State gambling regulators place strict prohibitions on youth sports betting
In the legal and regulated US sports betting market, strict prohibitions are in place preventing any betting lines from being offered on youth sports competitions. It is illegal to offer wagering on sporting events in which the participants are under the age of 18.
Most sites are taking the restrictions even further. The majority of legal and regulated sportsbooks operating in the US market include specific language in their terms and conditions. This wording indicates that betting on the Little League World Series is forbidden.
Some states prevent wagering on college sports involving in-state schools, or any college sporting events taking place within the state. States such as Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia all have prohibitions on the placing of prop wagers - bets on specific outcomes in a sporting event - on college sports.
Protecting young adults from exposure to sports betting is an issue in certain states. Illinois recently placed a ban on all sponsorship or advertising by sports betting sites on college campuses in the state.
