Mobile betting site 155.io has always been a company that has sought to break the traditional mold. After all, the company’s motto is betting on chaos.
They don’t just create betting lines on events, they create the events and then offer betting lines on them.
“Our chaos-fueled format blends entertainment and gambling in a way this space hasn’t seen before,” 155.io founder and CEO Sam Jones said in a press release.
Now, they want to bring their unique betting site to the lucrative regulated US market.
Currently based in Dubai, the company responsible for offering wagering on plastic duck racing wants to ensure it has all its ducks in a row before making that push into the US market. To that end, 155.io is prioritizing compliance with the requirements to be licensed to operate in the regulated US market.
The company is planning to launch a second round of funding to aid with this bid for US regulatory acceptance. The initial round of funding for 155.io landed investments from industry giants such as Yolo Investments and former Sportingbet founder Mark Blandford.
“We’re fully committed to pushing creative boundaries with ever more ambitious live experiences,” Jones said. “And trust us, what’s coming next will raise the bar even higher.”
Jones also plans to put his uniquely styled games in front of industry leaders so they can witness the excitement for themselves.
“We’re going to start exhibiting at industry events,” Jones said. “I’ve been to a few of them and seen what’s good and what’s not. We’re going to start putting some of our physical tracks in the exhibition so people can see they’re real and be mesmerized by them.”
Launched in 2024, 155.io is taking live betting in an entirely new direction.
The company currently offers three live action betting sites - marbles.io, stairpong.io, and ducks.io. The first site provides action on marble racing, while in the second game, 160 ping pong balls are dropped at the top of a staircase, and you wager on which one will get to the bottom of the stairs first.
With the duck races, plastic ducks are dropped into a pond by a robotic arm. Races take place on a real-life lazy river set up inside the company’s 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Dubai. A course featuring rapids, whirlpools, water jets, and pumps serves to add intrigue and unpredictability to each race.
Eight ducks battle to the finish line. You bet on which duck you think will be the first across the finish line. Races start every five minutes and are contested around the clock.
Jones drew his inspiration from those popular rubber ducky competitions at charitable events. “For years, duck racing has been a beloved tradition in charity and community events,” Jones said. “People just love these little characters.”
As far as his ultimate dreamscape, Jones envisions the day when his duck pond is set up in a major Las Vegas casino, with action going down on the races 24 hours a day.
